New Hire Salary Range: $66,090 - $74,880 annually
Salary Range: $66,090 - $92,532 annually
This job classification description is intended to be generic in nature and not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and requirements. The essential duties and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) designation may vary based on the specific tasks assigned as determined by the City of El Mirage.
This is the fifth level in a six-level Program Administration classification series devoted to providing professional-level program coordination and analysis. Incumbents work independently as journey-level professionals in their assigned areas of expertise. Work includes collaborating across the organization to address program needs and development.

Essential Functions

The following is intended to describe the core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the City’s needs.

  • Develops, coordinates, and supervises recreation and enrichment base programs and services for participants and members of the general public of all ages and abilities.
  • Oversees Senior/Community Center staffing, programs, and services; manages facility administration including patron registration and fee collection, administering service contracts, and purchasing equipment, materials, and supplies, records, and deposits revenues.
  • Supervises and oversees the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring, and evaluating performance, and interviewing, selecting, and training staff.
  • Interfaces regularly with the public, including program facilitation, customer service, problem-solving, and emergency response.
  • Oversees and assists in marketing, promotion, and communication of programs, events, and activities; establishes, fosters, and maintains relationships with City staff, residents, and community partners.
  • Develops operating policies and procedures; provides consulting and advice on interpretation and implementation.
  • Prepares complex reports, presentations, and documents.
  • Researches and analyzes data and prepares projections and trends.
  • Maintains complex records, statistics, and database information.
  • Provides professional advice and consultation in the area of subject-matter expertise.
  • Provide training to City staff, as assigned.
  • Assists with budget development and procurement processes, as assigned.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of recreation experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.

Certifications/Licenses:
  • Arizona Class D Driver’s License.
  • Adult CPR and First Aid required, within two weeks of hire.
  • Arizona Food Manager’s Certification, within ninety days of appointment.


CONTINUING EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry and within the specified timeframe.

Type of Work:

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Work Environment/Conditions:

Work is performed primarily inside an office environment. Some assignments require driving and intermittent periods outdoors. There is none to infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
