Rhode Island Community Food Bank is Hiring an Inventory Control Coordinator Near Providence, RI

Position Title: Inventory Control Coordinator
Reports To: Acquisition and Distribution Manager
Grade: 6
Starting Range: $21.63-$24 per hour
Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)
Work from Home: Not eligible

Position Summary: The Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for receipting inventory into the warehouse management database and conducting all inventory transactions and adjustments. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inventory counts and working with the team to identify and resolve inventory issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory control functions
    • Ensures that product is properly processed into food bank inventory in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Responsible for entering inventory adjustment transactions into the database including disposals, transforms, and positive and negative adjustments.
    • Coordinates with other members of the operations team to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all paperwork.
    • Responsible for timely Feeding America (FA) receipting of blue and yellow receipts.
    • Responsible for facilitating weekly, monthly and quarterly inventory counts.
    • Responsible for understanding the product flow and overall food bank operation in general and specifically how the work of inventory control impacts other areas of the department.
    • Retail program system entry and tracking
    • Reporting and tracking for the inventory functions
  2. Choice System and Donor Express
    • Accepts and processes donor express offerings
    • Reports on activity to FA
  3. Maintain Inventory reports
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s degree or three years related work experience or the equivalent.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly assess issues and develop new strategies.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office environment (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail, deal with interruptions, and maintain focus on tasks while producing accurate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively when speaking and in writing using standard forms of professional and office communication.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory transaction paperwork and files.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office using computers and phones extensively. Occasionally walks through or works in the warehouse and is subject to varying temperatures (exposed dock, coolers and freezers) in all seasons. May lift, move and carry objects up to 35 pounds. On occasion, works outside of normal working hours and occasionally drives to sites out in the community. There may be occasional travel to attend meetings and workshops.
