Field Trainer


General Summary of Position

The Field Trainer is expected to develop and implement training for the field workforce inclusive of classroom training and hands-on training in the topics listed below. Additionally, the Field Trainer assists in field hiring and serves as an additional go-between the employees on the job site and Project Management.

Essential Duties (Core Competencies)

General Training

Establish a regular schedule of classroom training based on project needs and various compliance requirements. Perform this classroom training independently.

Establish a program for on-the-job skills training for various skill levels (apprentice through journeyman). This may include personally providing training / shadowing of an individual to allow for site leaders to focus on the project.

Develop training for new and advancing Technology implementation (ex. Digital layout) and work with Project Management to identify the priority of candidates for this training.

Oversee the field portion of the apprenticeship program to ensure apprentices are receiving meaningful on the job training that applies to their skill level.

Assist HR in recruitment for apprenticeship by attending tech school events, speaking with students, and developing relationships with instructors to identify top candidates.

Act as Master Trainer in a train the trainer program to coach new trainers in various topics.

Train the workforce to follow the 10 commandments and shared values.

Coach and train the workforce in the Klover way.

Train the workforce in Lean mentality and methods to improve productivity to limit waste on the jobsite, improve productivity, and ensure work is completed in the correct sequence.

Develop a program for training up and coming site leaders in aspects such as management tools, organization, documentation control, leadership skills, and conflict resolution.

Documentation

Create and update training documentation including manuals, tutorials, and powerpoint presentations.

Ensure trainees receive the necessary training documentation.

Work with outside entities or other department resources to collect and combine training documentation when applicable.

Tools, Equipment, Technology

Maintain working knowledge of tools, including advancing tools/ technology to train carpenters in their use.

Train field members in proper use and care of company issued tools/equipment.

Workforce Involvement

Perform interviews for field carpenter candidates of various levels. Report back to recruiting and Project Management for recommended hires.

Keep track of new hires and their training needs after initial HR onboarding / training. Advise HR of special training needed during onboarding and implement that training.

Oversee yearly field employee review process roll out, ensure managers submit timely, and observe feedback to identify training needs.

Report to Project Management any observations on employees in the right/ wrong role, assignment based on their skillset. Attend manpower calls when needed. Implement training when necessary.

Safety

Become registered as a trainer for applicable programs (ex. CPR/First Aid, Elevated Platforms, All Terrain Fork) and assist Safety Director in training the workforce.

Train the workforce in the proper use of PPE and ensuring safety measures are in place for the work being performed.

Maintain working knowledge of Klover’s Safety policy.

Understanding and implementation of OSHA standards.

Corrects employees not following safety policies.

Identifies safety hazards and implements measures to correct them.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE.

Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum or apprenticeship

10 years’ experience field carpentry experience

5 years’ field supervisory experience

Proficiency reading blueprints and drawings

Work Environment

Carpenters work indoors and outdoors on many types of construction projects, with varying degrees of exposure to the elements. This may include extreme heat (>85 degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), extreme cold (<32 degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), excessive humidity and noise. Some hazards may be present such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, toxic/caustic chemicals, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces.

Travel Required

Daily travel to job sites generally within a 100-mile radius of Klover’s corporate location in Quakertown, PA.

Physical Requirements

Due to the physical nature of the position, employee must have full dexterity of their hands and arms.

Employee must be able to see objects close and far away

At times, multiple sounds can be heard as employee is working on job, employee must have the ability to focus on the sound in particular that is associated with the task they are completing. Employees with any sort of hearing impairment would not be considered fit for duty to perform this position.

Due to the safety sensitive nature of the position, at all times, employee must be fit for duty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering or performance altering substance. At no time, should employee be found to be possessing or using a mind or performance altering substance while performing any Company task.
