JOB TITLE: Athletic Center Attendant
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: VP of Operations
STATUS: Part-time, Non-Exempt

PURPOSE: The Athletic Center Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and positive experience of Athletic Center guests. They greet visitors, assist with check-ins, provide information, and maintain a clean and safe environment. Additionally, they handle cash register duties, monitor equipment, and foster a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons to enhance the Athletic Center experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greet all guests with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
  2. Provide information about facility hours, programs, and services.
  3. Answer phone calls and address inquiries.
  4. Maintain accurate records of attendance and program participation.
  5. Assist with scheduling classes, events, and facility rentals.
  6. Check-in members and guests using the registration system.
  7. Monitor access to the facility and enforce policies.
  8. Handle complaints or issues professionally and courteously.
  9. Operate the cash register for transactions related to memberships, classes, events, and merchandise.
  10. Handle cash, credit card, and electronic payments accurately.
  11. Issue receipts and maintain proper records of transactions.
  12. Reconcile daily cash and ensure accuracy.
  13. Perform routine cleaning tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment:
    1. Sweep and mop floors.
    2. Empty trash bins
    3. Keep equipment clean.
    4. Keep windows, mirrors, and surfaces clean.
    5. Keep high-touch areas (countertops, door handles, etc.) clean and sanitized.
    6. Keep supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) stocked/restock.
  14. Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  15. Monitor the facility for any security or safety concerns.
  16. Report suspicious activities or incidents.
  17. Help organize and promote special events or tournaments.
  18. Communicate effectively to ensure smooth operations.
  19. Be willing to switch between desk duties and custodial tasks as needed.
  20. Adapt to changing schedules and unexpected situations.
  21. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  2. CPR training and First Aid Certification (ACC will cover the cost if not current)
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with gym members
  4. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  5. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office)
  6. Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  7. Familiarity with basic gym operations and fitness services is desirable
  8. Previous customer service or front desk experience is a plus
  9. Must demonstrate a strong cultural sensitivity and awareness
  10. Problem-solving skills with a teachable spirit
  11. Must understand and maintain the confidentiality of all information acquired during duties
  12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  13. Must be able to work independently and show good judgment
  14. Needs to be organized and show good time management skills
  15. Must be reliable with regular, timely attendance
  16. Must be able to pass a background check
  17. ACC is an Evangelical Covenant organization. Employees are required to sign a document agreeing with the Evangelical Statement of Affirmations and Biblical position statements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
These duties will be conducted in an office environment and around campus with limited exposure to hazardous materials. Must have adequate sight to meet the responsibilities of the job. Must be able to lift 40 pounds on an occasional basis.

DRESS CODE:
Within the office, "business casual" dress is expected. Jeans are acceptable as long as they are clean and well-kept. If any questions arise regarding what is appropriate, speak with the supervisor.
