ABOUT THE POSITION
This position is responsible for coordinating and executing necessary operations to support Food Security initiatives, which includes the Mobile Community Market, food resourcing including acquisition of donated, recovered, and gleaned items, and possible light food processing. This role provides oversight to volunteers and students assigned to support food security activities such as Mobile Community Market events, prep, and cleanup, farm gleaning events, and value-added processing of donated products. This position supports inventory tracking and other program data to facilitate and strengthen collaboration with other internal departments and community partnerships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding relevant Food Security initiative operations including food resourcing, mobile community market events, volunteer engagement, and facility and fleet needs. Execute operations to proactively support smooth continuation of operations and oversee volunteer labor, minimizing operating costs where possible.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and community partners to redistribute products where they will best be utilized.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, program data, and other program records and reports to ensure adequate procurement for mobile market and kitchen operations, as well as data processes for in-kind donation, grant reporting, etc.
  • Represent FareStart in the community with an understanding of departmental goals and strategic plan, with knowledge of ongoing work and integrations.
  • Participate in relevant internal and external meetings.
  • Support the recruitment and training of interns/participants of external programs.
  • Train, coordinate, and maintain scheduled volunteer opportunities for Food Security activities with support and collaboration with the Volunteer Engagement Manager.
  • Collaborate with student trainers and oversee students assigned to support the Food Security Team to ensure learning outcomes are met.
  • Drive FareStart vehicles as needed to pick up and deliver food donations and provide delivery fleet coordination assistance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) or more years of related experience in an administrative or customer service role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Valid Washington State Driver's License.
  • Proficient and experienced in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
  • Outlook, and Teams. Ability to work with customized databases and technology and to conduct internet research.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and requests and meet deadlines in a professional manner. Ability to be flexible and adaptable and change plans as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity.
  • Ability to listen patiently and attentively, ability to express self clearly and effectively, and the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity.
