Kemmerer Village is Hiring a First Shift Supervisor Near Assumption, IL

The First Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing the direct supervison, skills development and support of the residential Tech's on their scheduled days. The First Shifr Supervisor will coordinate and direct the efforts of RT staff under their supervison to ensure that milieu services are consistent with the agencys policies and procedures. The First Shift Supervisor serves as the first (supervisory) responder to client behavior managment issues that arise in the milieu.
Hours: Rotating schedule- 6am-4pm 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off
On Call Duties: None
Supervised by: Director of Programming Operations
Supervisor for: First Sshift residential Techs who are on the rotation. The number includes the First Shift RT assigned to each of the cottages and First Shift RT Floaters
Responsibilities: A. Key/Essential Functions
  • Responsible for verbal and physical interventions when required, for de-escalating and safely managing acting out behavior of residents using the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques as taught by certified TCI trainers.
  • Ensure that the Kemmerer Village philosophy and treatment approach (KV Guidebook) is consistent among all Residentail Treatment Techs who are under their supervison.
  • Provide a consistent supervisor presence in the milieu, being present to observe and assist RT staff during scheduled milieu transition times (e.g. wake up and cottage moring routines, start and end of the schood day, meals). In concert with RT staff, make adjustments to staffing deployment or within the milieu in response to any arising circumstances.
  • Communicate with residential Lead Supervisor and other treatment team members regarding client specific observations and observations of patterns within the milieu that impact the overall quality of treatment.
  • Conduct regular supervisory meetings with all residential Techs on their first shirt, at least once during each rotation on. As needed, conduct additional supervisory meetings with RT staff to give immediate feedback regarding performance issues. The First Shift Supervisor is responsible for completing Employee Evaluations for First Shift RTs on their rotation, every November and June.
  • Ensure that newe RT staff recieve support and thorough training, when scheduled for in cottage training on First Shift.
  • Working cooperatively with other identified supervisors, fill immediate shift vacancies due to either call-ins or for situations requiring a temporary increase in staff-to-client ratios. Fill requested day off sheets and complete monthly schedules.
  • In collaboration with Residential Pogram Manager, ensure that monies for activities, transportation runs, etc. is picked up or given to identified staff, within an adequate time prior to leaving campus.
  • Attend and participate in regularly sceduled meetings
  • Oversee and approve all Privilage Alteration Forms and NPS packets, prior to their issuance to clients.
  • Attend and productivly participate in regularly sceduled SS meetings.
  • Review and sign off on all Significant Event reports that occur during their shift. Ensure that these reports are forwarded on to the appropriate staff by the end of each shift.

  • Noise conditions- Employee will be exposed during a shift to constant or intermittent sounds at a level sufficient to cause hearing loss or fatigue.
  • Heat- Employee will be subject to high temperatures that result in significant discomfort due to being outside as needed.
  • Cold- Employee will be exposed to low temperatures that result in significant body discomfort due to being outside as needed.
  • Injury Exposure- Employee willl be exposed to workplace hazards with the potential for injury related to residential care.
  • Potential long work hours (double shifts)
QualificationsEducation and Experience: Must be at least 25 years of age, have 2 years of college credits, 2 years of full time experience in a residential child care program: demonstrate skill in working with and managing children of the type served in the program: and demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with administration and persons external to the program.
Skill Requirements: Good oral and written communication skills; god interpersonal skills; able to successfully interact with others from a variety of bakgroun; excellent organizational skills. Motivation and good team leadership skills.
