A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree is required. This position includes health insurance, paid sick and vacation hours, and professional development opportunities. We work collaboratively with the Howard Center as part of a Therapeutic Child Care partnership, with Early Head Start and CIS partners. All teachers are currently participating in the development of a project examining the rights and responsibilities of citizens of all ages and how this work relates to the values of equity, advocacy, responsibility, belonging and respect. In the classroom, teachers have the freedom to create developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the children's interests and the teachers’ passions. Co-teachers complete assessments using Teaching Strategies Gold. The classroom team meets weekly for planning and at least monthly to develop individualized care plans and implementation strategies with the HowardCenter, special educators and Head Start staff. All classrooms participate in parent engagement activities using the Strengthening Families Framework; these include family dinners, open house, curriculum night, and engaging families in curriculum related to their interests. The Burlington Children’s Space, housed in the McClure Multi-Generational Center, is an economically and culturally diverse NAEYC accredited program offering early care and education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
