Salary:

Basic Purpose:

Responsible for the direct supervision of all activities/personnel in the loan servicing area. Directs operations relating to all servicing aspects of the residential loan portfolio, for both internal products and secondary market products. Actively works with management and others in the department to ensure all regulatory and secondary market standards are followed, along with compliance to bank policies, audit standards and compliance with federal and state regulations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the servicing team, including training and cross-training to ensure all areas are covered in the absence of any team member.
  • Directs all of the day-to-day operations pertaining to loan servicing. Ensures the timely and accurate deployment of all loan servicing related operations, including but not limited to the input and ongoing integrity of mortgage loan data; mortgage collection activity; effective and meaningful customer communication; certain loan program eligibility and servicing related reporting. Ensures compliance with all internal controls, servicing related policies and procedures and banking laws and regulations.
  • Recognizes and determines any internal problems/issues and makes recommendations for changes to policy or procedure to improve efficiency.
  • Keeps abreast of federal and state banking laws and regulations affecting the mortgage servicing operations area.
  • Work with other department members to ensure escrow payments and annual escrow analysis are completed timely and accurately.
  • Maintains good communication with supervisor, keeping him/her informed of any operational problems or concerns.
  • Provides customer service in person, or by phone, by consistently applying the bank’s standards. Responds to customer complaints, disputes and complex issues.
  • Complies with internal controls, security policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, maintains customer confidentiality, maintains dual control on note filing and keeps passwords confidential thus secures computer terminal at all times.
  • Acts as a primary contact for mortgage collection efforts, including foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings. Prepares written correspondence regarding delinquencies and makes telephone contacts as necessary. Performs shadow non-accrual and charge off transactions. Interacts with designated attorneys when needed. Adheres to Freddie Mac, USDA Rural Development and Private Mortgage Insurer Loss Mitigation guidelines and conforms to Federal Relief Program guidelines.
  • Annually prepares 1099 reporting records for acquisition and charge off transactions
  • Performs multiple complex reporting tasks and assures compliance relating to the servicing of Freddie Mac Loans, USDA Rural Development Loans, Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) Pledged Loans. Compiles and submits required information to ensure ongoing program eligibility.
  • Assists the Executive Vice President in the maintenance and disposal of bank owned properties. Tracks and monitors carrying balances and expenses relating to bank owned properties.
  • Actively participates in the optimum implementation of new programs, products and technology.
  • Reviews and responds to audit and compliance examinations in the residential lending area and ensures that appropriate changes in policies and procedures are enforced.
  • Oversees balancing procedures for general ledger accounts related to mortgage loan accounting.
  • Reporting to work on time and maintaining good attendance is an essential function of your job and necessary for our bank to operate efficiently.

  • Remain flexible to withstand unpredictable changes to schedules and deadlines

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience/Essential Skills:

  • Two years of college in accounting, business, or banking related field or equivalent experience of same.
  • Experience, which includes, but is not limited to, understanding loan area operations, practices and procedures.
  • Must be an organized person who can work independently.
  • Must have problem solving skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills to direct support staff, either directly or indirectly.
  • Must be able to analyze complex information.
  • Must be able to work under stress and pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Dexterity required for manipulating objects and standard office equipment.
  • Communication skills using the written and spoken word.
  • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
  • Ability to lift/maneuver up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, squat, and stoop as needed.

Working Conditions:

Works in a typical office setting and is primarily stationed at a desk approximately 90 % of the time. Occasional to moderate overtime may be required.
