The Driver Supervisor will focus on the transportation department's day-to-day delivery operations in the regional service market.

This position is critical and will successfully lead operational efficiency and safety initiatives, support the driver community during delivery operations, and provide exceptional customer service at assigned locations.

Compensation :

  • Average Annual Pay : $70,000 - $90,000

Home Time, Route, & Schedule

  • Home Daily!
  • Typically 5 day work week (Saturdays as needed)
  • This position will successfully lead operational efficiency and safety initiatives, support the driver community during delivery operations, and provide exceptional customer service.

May need to drive in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and managerial abilities, including the aptitude to guide, mentor, and motivate employees for success
  • Ensures driver's compliance with local, state, and federal regulations policies (Cold Chain, USDA, FDA, OSHA, FMLA, etc.

  • Drive efficiencies within the assigned region and increase performance against key metrics
  • Investigates accidents, including but not limited to the scene of accident management, compiling information, and executing company policy about post-accident procedures
  • Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, schedules, assigns, and directs work according to the current collective bargaining agreement;

evaluates and manages employee payroll job performance; addresses complaints and resolves employee issues

  • Makes recommendations to management to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
  • Communicate daily with drivers on business needs, customer service best practices, routing, equipment requirements, and sales support
  • Display and encourage teamwork and willingness to be a problem solver
  • Research service miscues, determine root cause and share findings for continuous improvement, and partner with Ryder regarding maintenance and repairs as well as scheduling equipment PM (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Collaborate regularly with the sales department, keeping the lines of communication open for optimal customer and business relations
  • Completing paperwork such as evaluations, accident / injury logs, and other reports and records
  • Other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
  • Must possess a Class A CDL & Endorsements (Air Brakes, Doubles / Triples as required)
  • Advanced knowledge of all DOT and FMCSA Regulations and requirements
  • Two years of experience in transportation supervision is preferred but not required, and two years of experience as a CDL Class A Delivery Driver, possessing a valid CDL Class A License with a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).
  • Two plus years of experience in related field of trucking / distribution / logistics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with team members and customers
  • No DUI / DWIs in last 3 years
  • Frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72 to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart;

constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer

  • Must be able to work a varied schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations
  • Must be able to pass a required pre-employment drug screen
  • Hiring Radius : Drivers must live within 60 miles of Detroit, MI orbe willing to relocate for this position
