Classroom Instruction
Teach Agriculture Science and Technology classes.
Prepare teaching plans, demonstration plans, and teaching materials for all classes
Prepare and evaluate teaching schedule, curriculum, and teaching calendars
Conduct field trips, both in and out of district
Coordinate, maintain inventories, and keep record of the agriculture materials and equipment for classroom and laboratory
Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP)
Advise and evaluate students regarding Supervised Agriculture Experience Programs
Assist students with the planning and maintenance of SAEP’s
Conduct site visits of SAEP’s as recommended by the State department of Education
Assist students in keeping SAEP records at the local and state level FFA/Leadership Development
The FFA is an integral part of the instructional program. All Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources departments are expected to have an active FFA chapter. It is the duty of the teacher to serve as advisor for the local chapter. It is necessary that the teacher spend time in planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, and cooperative activities for students at the district, area, state and national levels.
Maintain Facilities and Equipment
Proper arrangement of classroom, shop and laboratory
Planning for and maintaining visual aids and references
Ordering new equipment and supplies
Coordinating the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment
Establish and monitor school procedures for keeping classroom, shop, laboratory, office, and grounds neat and attractive at
all times
Shop and laboratory safety is taught and observed at all times. Safety items are available for student use and safety
features have been installed and in working order on equipment
An annual inventory is taken of all tools, equipment, and supplies; and a copy given to the appropriate administrators
Assessment
Is responsible for developing appropriate assessment strategies.
Maintains up-to-date records of student progress.
Communicates student assessment to students and parents.
Professional Development
Expected to attend the required Professional Development sessions.
Will maintain a Professional Growth Plan.
Will attend all teachers meeting as directed by the principal.
Other
Serve a 12 month contract
Plan and attend evening activities including but not limited to: recruitment events, consulting committee meetings and
award ceremonies
Be willing to obtain license endorsements for transportation of students
Serve as liaison to the local FFA Alumni chapter
Contribute to the preparation and tracking of the budget for the agriculture program each year
Purchase supplies and equipment for the classroom and laboratory
Responsible for the supervision of students at all times.
Responsible for maintaining all appropriate student records.
Will serve as a representative on assigned Site Base committees.
Will perform other duties assigned by the principal consistent with responsibilities becoming a teacher.
Education and Experience:
Candidate must possess current Kentucky teaching certification for teaching agriculture and be capable of teaching all areas
of the Kentucky Agriculture Education Standards.
