Interface Children Family Services is Hiring a Project Manager Near Camarillo, CA

Position: Ventura County VOAD Project Manager – Temporary Position for Leave of Absence

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Rate: $33.65/ HR

Location: Camarillo, CA

Ventura County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VC VOAD) is a collaborative of local non-profit agencies, faith-based organizations, volunteer groups, public institutions, and private entities dedicated to improving outcomes for people affected by disasters. VC VOAD helps communities prepare for, respond to and recover from major disasters by facilitating cooperation, communication, coordination, and collaboration. A long-standing core partner and Executive Committee member of VC VOAD, Interface Children & Family Services is serving as fiscal lead and project partner.

OVERVIEW

The Project Manager will assist the Director in the daily tasks related to grants management, including reporting and monitoring. In the first instance, work will focus on 1) managing and updating the disaster client case management system; 2) training and networking events with VC VOAD network partners and the community; and 3) developing and implementing a communication strategy, including social media and focused public outreach campaigns.

The Project Manager will support the VC VOAD Director to build relationships and encourage coordination among nonprofits, faith-based organizations, social service groups, private sector businesses and government agencies active in preparedness, response, and recovery throughout Ventura County; work with the Director and Executive Committee of VC VOAD to update and enhance the collaborative’s operations, plans, and training to ensure that member organizations are ready and to respond effectively and efficiently in a coordinated fashion in an emergency; and direct activities to increase awareness of VC VOAD, expand membership and seek to strengthen resources and financial support. The Project Manager reports to the VC VOAD Director and Community Information Officer.

Staff are expected to work at an assigned office or worksite within the county as determined by project needs.

DUTIES

  • Provide administrative and strategic oversight of preparedness and mitigation planning activities, based on existing funding.
  • Engage and coordinate a network of nonprofit, faith-based, and other members who will mobilize to serve the community collaboratively, immediately following a disaster.
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to build the capacity of VC VOAD through planning of meetings, developing agenda, and facilitating meetings and trainings.
  • Participate in meetings and events related to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to recruit new organizations, engage existing lapsed members.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all government entities involved in all phases of disaster, particularly the County.
  • Oversight of disaster preparedness public education efforts, including management of communications and messaging resources for VC VOAD members to use.
  • Manage monthly reporting requirements for all VC VOAD grants.
  • Coordinate and manage VC VOAD in a disaster situation, in concert with VC VOAD Director and Executive Committee.
  • Assist with local campaigns through speaking engagements and advocating on community issues.
  • Monitor fundraising and grant opportunities.
  • Seek additional funding support as needed to accomplish the goals and objectives of VC VOAD
  • Other duties as assigned or necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Project Management experience required.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated experience in community organizing, engaging diverse communities, and bringing together a variety of stakeholders for collaboration to solve common problems.
  • Self-directed with initiative to take on projects and work independently with minimal supervision in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating training (including in a virtual environment) and identifying subject matter experts preferred.
  • Experience working in disaster preparedness and response environments and or/post-disaster recovery is preferred.
  • Experience writing and administering grants is preferred.
  • Successful background and criminal clearance required and maintained, including but not limited to California Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, Child Abuse Index and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Proof of a valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance (listed as covered), pass and maintain driving approval as required by our insurer.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including, but not limited to: verbal and written communication, public speaking and comfortable facilitating virtual and in-person meetings and events.
  • Ability to listen and respond with respect, consideration, and tact during public forums.
  • Ability to engage and work effectively and with cultural sensitivity towards people of diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, age, and economic backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Understanding and comfort using collaboration platforms, such as Google Documents and Google Drive, WebEx and other online meeting, communication, and webinar tools.
