Currently, we have a full-time opening in our Packing Department. This is an entry-level position, responsible for sorting and cleaning of incoming product and in the packing of orders for the day's deliveries and, as the last person to see the product before it is shipped, be certain that orders are error free, of the best possible quality and go out in a timely manner.

Regular hours of employment shall be posted in the packing room every Thursday. A daily lunch break of ½ hour to 1 hour is required if working at least six hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the responsibility for Critical Control Points.
• To perform all duties necessary to the smooth operation of all areas of the Packing Room as directed by the Packing Room Operations Manager or Packing Room Supervisor Lab and Food Safety Team.
• To assist as a member of the Packing Room team in the sorting and cleaning of lettuces and other products and to be certain that the lettuce and other products cleaned are of the best possible quality.
• Properly clean the totes used for harvesting products from both the field and greenhouses as quickly and efficiently while following the food safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in checking-in incoming produce (from shippers, market, field ) give a lot number and date the product and put it away as soon as it arrives, judge product quality and grade accordingly.

Work products when needed.

Act as a team member of the entire Chef’s Garden Team occasionally going outside the typical role of a Packing Room Co-worker to provide a WOW to fellow team members or customers.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six months related experience and / or training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; sit; walk;
• climb steps; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift and / or move up to 50 pounds in either boxes or bags and up to 100 pounds with assistance;

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
