TITLE: IT Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

REPORTS TO: IT CAD Administrator

SUMMARY

Primary function to administrate, support, and maintain the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) / Mobile Data Computer systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:

• Administer, maintain, upgrade, and evaluate all CAD/Mobile and GIS systems including all ancillary systems in coordination with IT CAD Administrator.
• Using ESRI ArcGIS software, evaluate and test GIS data during map data updates.
• Evaluates, implements, identifies and troubleshoots known or potential problems with CAD and Mobile systems.
• Prioritizes support tickets and coordinates CAD and GIS related vendor management to ensure deliverables, services, and follow through to ensure timelines for ticket resolution are met.
• Maintain equipment, including applying windows and security patches.
• Assist the IT CAD Administrator with various CAD related maintenance duties.
• Work closely with the PSAPs regarding training.
• Maintain knowledge and documentation of CAD/Mobile operations, processes, and interfaces and IT infrastructure that supports CAD.
• Oversees new installations and upgrades to CAD and coordinates with internal and external customers.
• Assist with development of technical training in conjunction of Alarm training department.
• Assists in preparation for CAD meetings with MCHD partners.
• Maintains after hours on call rotation determined by on call schedule.
• Responds and works as assigned during any or all disasters as essential personnel.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned or needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AA/AS or equivalent industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of EMS and Fire Dispatch Operations.
• Basic Use of Computer Aided Software (CAD) Systems.
• Prior experience in various telecommunications devices and practices.
• Proficient typing skills 40 words per minute.
• Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) standards.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• 2 years’ experience with Microsoft Windows and Windows Server environment preferred.
• 2 years’ experience with SQL database, word processing, and spreadsheet skills required.
• Knowledge of Public Safety Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) systems.
• ESRI GIS experience preferred.
• Proficient word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills required.
• Basic email and internet skills required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Current Texas Driver’s License
• Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of MCHD.
• NIMS 100, 200, and 700 certifications.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CJIS certification within 6 months of employment.
