Description

Job Summary:

The primary function of this position is to assist the credit union in achieving its vision to become the preferred financial service provider for all members. This is achieved by providing outstanding service to both internal and external members to meet Envision Credit Union’s service promises. A key component of this service is to identify member needs and recommend appropriate credit union solutions. Safeguard member information and the credit union’s vital records in a manner commensurate with the sensitivity of the information and in compliance with laws, regulations and the credit union’s information security policies, standards and procedures.

The Deposit Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in the efficient and accurate management of various deposit-related tasks within the organization. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of deposit operations processes. As a specialist in deposit operations, this individual will handle a diverse range of responsibilities including processing mobile deposits, manual payroll, check processing, resolving disputes, managing payroll deductions, and facilitating automatic transfers. The Deposit Operations Specialist ensures that all duties are executed smoothly and accurately, in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional member service to all internal, external and potential credit union members that meet the Service Promises and Standards of the Credit Union.
  • Process mobile deposits submitted by customers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deposit policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for investigating and resolving check disputes raised by customers, addressing discrepancies, errors, or unauthorized transactions in a timely manner.
  • Manage the processing of checks received by the organization, including depositing checks, endorsing checks, and recording transactions accurately in the system.

  • Responsible for efficiently handling the daily processing of check returns received from the Federal Reserve, including check adjustments and affidavits of forgery.
  • Process daily share drafts (checks) received from members and other financial institutions, ensuring accurate posting and timely processing.
  • Handle large item returns received from on-us transactions, including checks and other negotiable instruments, adhering to established procedures and deadlines.
  • Manage the review and reconciling of share draft transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness, resolving any discrepancies or errors promptly.
  • Administer payroll deductions for employees, preauthorized transfer, and ACH distribution requests ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Assist in conducting regular reviews and audits of deposit transactions and records to identify discrepancies, errors, or potential fraud, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Compile and analyze monthly processing totals for various deposit operations activities, including returns processing, share draft processing, and other relevant metrics.
  • Stay updated on banking regulations, including Reg E, Reg CC, BSA/AML, and other relevant laws and regulations, and ensure compliance in all deposit operations activities.
  • Complete incoming and outgoing wire transfers and balance wires throughout the day.
  • Review and verify stop payment forms received from financial centers for accuracy and proper handling of fees.
  • Process general member inquires and resolve member problems, exercising discretion regarding all transactions and promotes our products and services.
  • Support GL (General Ledger) discrepancy research and outage documentation efforts by providing assistance as required.
  • Conduct and complete any research requests within established time frames.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of other positions within the department and act as a backup when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and support all areas of the credit union.

Other Requirements:

  • A high school or general educational development (GED) diploma. Minimum six (6) months at Credit Union plus one (1) year experience in a financial institution working with deposits and operations. Experience with ATM Processing is a plus
  • Varying hours (weekends and holidays)
  • Must be bondable
  • Must adhere to all applicable Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) laws and regulations
