The Opportunity

We are seeking a personable and driven Recruiter to develop and maintain a first-rate team that improves the competitive position of the firm. This is an ideal position for a compelling, go getter with the skills to attract skilled talent into our organization. This role requires strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence to effectively problem solve and present solutions while demonstrating professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity. A successful candidate for the role with be skilled in time management when working independently or as part of a team while ensuring open roles are filled timely, including in high pressure moments. As a Recruiter, you must continuously improve the competitive position of the firm by researching, developing, and implementing effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent in accordance with Laborde Earles Core Values. We are looking for someone who is resourceful and dedicated to proactively addressing enhancements to recruiting strategies that align with business goals. This individual will have a forward-thinking mindset to ensure we proactively address recruiting needs on a routine basis. 

Duties Include:

  1. Accountable for developing and maintaining a first-rate team that lives our Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
    1. Develop, facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process
    2. Collaborate with Director of People Operations and department leads/supervisors to draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and understand hiring criteria, such as skills and competencies required for openings
    3. Identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the business
    4. Manage internal and external job postings and applicant information in Recruiting Platform
    5. Conduct initial screening of applications and select qualified candidates for interview
    6. Conduct reference checks verifying experience, background, and core value alignment
    7. Present qualified candidates to department leads/supervisors and attend and conduct secondary interviews with applicable department
    8. leads/supervisors and other stakeholders
    9. Arrange meeting locations, travel, and/or accommodations for applicants and company representatives when necessary
    10. Collaborate with the Director of People Operations to identify and recommend salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details involved in the offer process
    11. Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications
    12. Implement and conduct new hire onboarding and orientation processes to ensure employees feel welcomed and are well equipped for success
    13. Arrange meeting locations, travel, and/or accommodations for applicants and company managers when necessary.
    14. Act as the intermediary between the HR and other applicable departments to plan the best training and onboarding experience for the new team member
    15. Follow up with department supervisors and Staff Development Coordinator during the introductory period of employment for newly hired team members, utilizing that knowledge to improve recruiting/hiring practices
    16. Visit each company office location on an as needed basis and as requested by Director of People Operations
  2. Accountable to for ensuring proper compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting.
    1. Ensure compliance with applicable equal employment opportunity (EEO), federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies, and recommend best practices
    2. Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of candidate files and records in accordance with applicable retention laws and regulations
    3. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate suggested changes in policy, practice, and resources to Director of People Operations
    4. Ensure candidate files are up to date and organized, following applicable laws and best practices
    5. Provide weekly status reports to the Director of People Operations
  3. Accountable to practice proactive and strategic recruiting strategies to boost brand awareness and attract and retain top talent.
    1. Manage Company Careers email account(s) handling or routing inquiries to appropriate HR team member
    2. Manage LinkedIn Recruiter Lite account, Indeed account, and other relevant platforms to advertise for and boost job openings, seek and attract both passive and active candidates, and positively contribute to firm culture and morale
    3. Collaborate with marketing to boost job ads on LinkedIn, Facebook, and any other relevant social media platforms
    4. Attend and participate in job fairs or events to boost brand awareness and presence for purposes of attracting top talent
    5. Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events and celebrations, holiday festivities, and culture-boosting initiatives
    6. Process recruiting-related invoicing and receipts by routing to applicable accounting team members
    7. Perform other duties as assigned by Director of People Operations

  • Be Dependable: must be punctual and reliable and an overall dependable team player with excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Be Comfortable Amidst Change: must be flexible and adaptable to embrace change with a positive attitude as policies/procedures evolve
  • Demonstrate Knowledge of Your Craft: strong understanding of effective and proactive recruiting strategies and techniques, including both active and passive recruiting

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, training, human resources, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in proactive and strategic recruiting
  • 3-5 years of experience managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process
  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems 
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus
  • SHRM's Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential is a plus
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to operate basic office equipment
  • Some travel required
