Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success. Silver Sage Girl Scout Council is committed to providing a work environment of equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants and creating a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and professionalism.Position Summary The Assistant Program Manager will facilitate opportunities that encourage girls, adults, and families to expand their Girl Scout Leadership Experiences throughout the year. They will be a key contributing member of the program team by providing exceptional experiences within the National Girl Scout Program, including STEM, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills and Outdoors leadership. This includes programming for K-12 girls, at our summer Day Camp (primarily K – 5), and adult volunteer training. Additionally, the Assistant Program Manager will be committed to supporting girl and adult membership as part of a larger cross functional team providing customer care and support to members.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGeneral Program (60% of time)
  • Design and implement year-round programming experiences and trainings for girls and adult volunteers across the Council jurisdiction
  • Work independently and with the program team to manage projects and initiatives from concept to implementation
  • Create and maintain current, age-appropriate, and safe progression experiences, trainings and resources for girls and volunteers
  • Mentor adult volunteers in program progressions, including regularly meeting with Troop and Service Unit volunteers
  • Assist in grant writing and reporting
  • Assist with the development of resources to support program information via web, print, and newsletters
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with community leaders, agencies, organizations, and educational institutions to provide a range of age-appropriate opportunities for girls
  • Track and review outcome evaluations to effectively measure the success of program delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross departmental staff to plan and implement program initiatives, organizational strategic initiatives such as membership development, fund development, marketing strategies and business operations
  • Oversee and deliver superior client service to all attendees, parents/families, staff, volunteers, and vendors
  • Adhere to Council and GSUSA policies, standards, procedures and Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Other duties as assigned to reach the goals of the department and organization.
Day Camps (40% of time)
  • Serve as the on-site Camp Director, managing daily operations, including responsibility for managing and mentoring seasonal camp staff, and camp opening and closing responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire and train seasonal camp staff
  • Lead staff training and manage ongoing in-service trainings
  • Implement camp programming that is consistent with organizational goals and meets the needs of participants from a diverse population
  • Oversee and deliver superior client service to all campers, parents/families, staff, volunteers, and vendors
  • Manage administrative camp duties such as record keeping, daily reporting, and program evaluations
  • Oversee implementation of financial management policies and procedures with high attention to detail and deadlines
  • Provide data-informed feedback for program enhancements and strategic planning
Ensure camp property and programming are compliant with American Camping Association requirements Skills/Competencies
  • 2-4 years of education, training or background in Youth Program Development preferred
  • Experience in writing program curricula
  • Demonstrated reasoning and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments with high professionalism
  • Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong grammar, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work while managing multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of American Camping Association requirements preferred
  • Experience with budget tracking a plus
  • Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core, and Idaho State Science Standards a plus
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
Additional Requirements
  • Minimum age: 25 years old (ACA standard)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel throughout Council jurisdiction
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must have personal transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, maintain personal auto insurance, and meet the Council insurance company’s requirement for coverage
  • Employee must be willing to work irregular hours and work in an outdoor environment with exposure to heat, sun, rain, insects, uneven terrain and other outdoor elements
  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA
