Description
We are seeking a full-time Primary Counselor to work in our 24-hour Residential Treatment program. The Primary Counselor is responsible for coordinating resident's care by completing the individual treatment plan, functional assessment, LOCUS, interpretive summary, treatment reviews, and weekly 1:1 counseling session. The primary counselor shares responsibility for treatment and psycho-educational groups.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of community resources and the different housing programs offered by Zumbro Valley.
- Complete paperwork within the state variance guidelines and other necessary documentation as needed.
- Lead 30 and 60-day Treatment Team meetings.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, in-service training, clinical and administrative meetings as indicated.
- Assist with the development of policies and procedures. Keep clinical records and client information up to date.
- Provide case management activities when requested by other community providers.
- Provide individual support to residents as needed. Assess residents for abuse or neglect by self or others on an ongoing basis.
- Assist with screenings, referrals, and assessments of appropriate client intakes as directed.
- Oversee and facilitate treatment and educational groups.
- Provide 1:1 counseling session with assigned residents a minimum of one time per week.
- Model effective social skills when engaged in activities with IRTS residents in the community.
- Assist and advocate for resident needs as appropriate.
Qualifications
Requirements and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences is required.
- Master's degree in behavioral sciences preferred.
- Must meet Mental Health Practitioner qualifications in the State of MN.
- Must have two years of experience in providing services to adults with severe mental illness and/or chemical dependency.
- Must understand the characteristics and needs of adults with a severe mental illness and/or co-occurring dual diagnosis.

Pay: $56,800 - $70,000 per year. Compensation is based on years of experience.
