Accountant / Bookkeeper

Duties

• Maintain accurate records through general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations, including bank and account reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure data integrity.
• Process payroll using various financial software platforms while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and payroll standards.
• Assist with budgeting activities by analyzing expenses and preparing financial forecasts.
• Support governmental and non-profit accounting requirements by maintaining proper documentation and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken; familiarity with other financial software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
• Knowledge of governmental or non-profit accounting practices is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliation accurately.
• Excellent skills in financial report writing, account analysis, and budget management.
• Proficiency in 10 key typing for efficient data entry and processing.
• Experience with tax preparation or tax-related processes is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks such as accounts payable/receivable management and payroll processing simultaneously.
