Position Summary
The Fire Alarm and Security Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic security and life-safety systems, including fire alarms, CCTV, access control, gate systems, intrusion detection, and intercom systems.
Essential Responsibilities
Installation
- Install and wire fire alarm and security systems according to blueprints, schematics, and building plans.
- Install access control, CCTV, gate operators, intercom systems, and intrusion alarm systems.
- Program and configure fire alarm, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, and gate systems.
- Ensure systems are operating efficiently and according to customer requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance on security and fire alarm equipment.
- Test circuits, sensors, backup systems, and other components to verify proper operation.
- Inspect systems and identify opportunities for upgrades or improvements.
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues.
- Troubleshoot fire alarm, CCTV, access control, intercom, gate, and intrusion systems.
- Respond to service requests and emergency repair calls as needed.
- Provide technical support and training to customers.
- Explain system operation and assist users with troubleshooting questions.
- Maintain accurate service records, installation documentation, and maintenance reports.
- Manage inventory, tools, and replacement parts.
- Follow all applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of electronics, electrical wiring, and security systems.
- Experience installing and servicing fire alarm and electronic security systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service and technical support.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
- All hours worked between 6:00 PM and 5:00 AM are paid at time-and-a-half, regardless of the day of the week.
- Emergency service calls are paid at a 4-hour minimum at time-and-a-half.
- Emergency service calls on recognized holidays are paid at a 4-hour minimum at double-time, plus 8 hours of holiday pay at the regular rate.
