Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a prominent automotive manufacturer in the Dalton, GA area, is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team! This is a full-time opportunity in a fast-paced automated manufacturing environment offering a wide range of perks such as full benefits, 401K, and growth opportunities.

Controls Engineer Job Summary

Location: Dalton, GA

Schedule: Monday – Friday (hours may vary based on production support)

• Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems, HMIs, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Provide technical support to reduce downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and controls documentation.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automation equipment.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures.
• Train maintenance and production teams on troubleshooting and proper control system usage.
• Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and internal safety and quality standards.
• Stay current with automation technologies and industry best practices.
  
  

Controls Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, OR 5 years of progressive controls/automation experience.
• Minimum 3 years of PLC programming experience required.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting Mitsubishi and Keyence PLCs preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical documents, and mechanical drawings.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
• Experience with robotics integration or advanced automation systems is a plus.
