Controls Engineer Job Summary
Location: Dalton, GA
Schedule: Monday – Friday (hours may vary based on production support)
- Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems, HMIs, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Provide technical support to reduce downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and controls documentation.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automation equipment.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures.
- Train maintenance and production teams on troubleshooting and proper control system usage.
- Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and internal safety and quality standards.
- Stay current with automation technologies and industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, OR 5 years of progressive controls/automation experience.
- Minimum 3 years of PLC programming experience required.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting Mitsubishi and Keyence PLCs preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical documents, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
- Experience with robotics integration or advanced automation systems is a plus.
