Zero Waste Solutions is seeking a refuse laborer in the DC area.
The Refuse Collector is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient collection of solid waste from public locations in DC. This role supports daily operations by ensuring materials are collected according to route schedules, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. The position requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and consistent customer service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operates a variety of trucks, and related equipment and performs responsible
- Operates a scooter/vehicle in the collection of rubbish; services rubbish containers at various locations in City
- Quality control inspections
- Inspects equipment for safety prior to operating
- Performs other related tasks as required.
Requirements:
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating a variety of standard vehicles.
- General knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of varied trucks and tractors
- Skill in the use of equipment to which assigned
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to lift heavy articles
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
- Conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times and are expected to provide good customer service. Proper uniform will be worn: Shirts and trousers without holes or altered in any way, shape or form.
- The candidate MUST be able to pass a background check
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
