Position Summary
The Resort General Manager is the strategic and operational leader of the property. This role is responsible for all aspects of the resort’s performance, including guest satisfaction, team member engagement, financial results, brand standards, and compliance with all company policies and local/state regulations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, visible leader who thrives in a resort environment, builds strong relationships with guests, owners, and the community, and develops a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and direction for all departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, Activities, Engineering, and Sales & Marketing.
- Ensure consistently high standards of guest service, cleanliness, safety, and brand compliance throughout the resort.
- Walk the property regularly, engaging with guests and team members, and addressing issues proactively.
Financial & Business Performance
- Own the resort’s P&L and drive results in revenue, GOP, and NOI in line with ownership expectations.
- Lead the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process; analyze performance, explain variances, and implement corrective action plans.
- Partner with the sales and revenue teams to optimize rate, occupancy, and ancillary revenues across rooms, F&B, spa, and group business.
- Monitor labor, operating expenses, and cost controls to maximize profitability while preserving guest satisfaction and brand standards.
People & Culture
- Recruit, train, and develop a strong leadership team and department heads.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment, modeling AD1 Global’s values and culture.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback, and hold leaders accountable for performance.
- Drive team member engagement, recognition, and retention, with a strong focus on service culture and internal growth opportunities.
Guest Experience & Brand Standards
- Champion a “guest-first” mindset across the resort, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Monitor guest feedback (surveys, reviews, social media, brand reports) and implement action plans to improve satisfaction and online reputation.
- Ensure compliance with all brand, franchise, and management company standards, policies, and procedures.
Compliance, Risk & Community Relations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state (including Utah labor laws), and local regulations, as well as safety, health, and security standards.
- Work closely with HR on employee relations, investigations, and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain strong relationships with ownership, management company leadership, community partners, vendors, and tourism organizations.
- Represent the resort in the local community and with key business partners to drive visibility and business opportunities.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5 years of experience as a General Manager or Resort General Manager in a full-service resort or hotel environment.
- Proven success overseeing multi-department operations (Rooms, F&B, Banquets/Events, Spa/Maintenance, etc.).
- Strong financial acumen with a track record of achieving revenue and profitability goals and managing a full P&L.
- Experience leading, developing, and retaining a diverse team at all levels.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
- Proficiency with hotel PMS systems and common hotel technologies; comfortable learning new systems.
Preferred:
- Experience in a destination resort, mountain resort, or similar four-season destination property.
- Experience with group, conference, and leisure mix of business.
- Previous experience with managed or franchised brands (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, etc.) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position at Zermatt Utah Resort & Spa in Midway, Utah.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
- Visible leadership presence on the floor is expected, especially during peak periods and special events.
