Duties
- Administering medications and treatments as ordered.
- Checking and documenting vital signs, blood glucose, weight, and other health measurements.
- Assessing residents for changes in condition and reporting concerns promptly.
- Providing wound care, dressing changes, and skin assessments.
- Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
- Communicating with physicians, RNs, CNAs, residents, and families about residents' care.
- Maintaining accurate nursing notes, medication records, care plans, and other documentation.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal units, and individuals with developmental disabilities or infectious diseases.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and CPT coding for accurate documentation and billing.
- Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for efficient patient record management.
- Expertise in IV insertion, medication administration, catheter care, phlebotomy, and sterile technique to ensure safe clinical practices.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Excellent caregiver communication skills to educate patients and families about treatment plans and health coaching strategies.
- Familiarity with acute care environments including emergency room experience, ICU experience, trauma centers (Level I/II), and hospital medicine settings.
