About the Role
We’re hiring a part-time Contract HR Generalist who can step into real HR work with confidence and drive. You don’t need cannabis experience. You do need a professional background that started outside HR, someone who learned people, pressure, and problem-solving before moving into human resources.
This role is project-based and hours will ebb and flow. You must be available during the day for calls, quick-turn items, and employee issues that can’t sit.
What You’ll Do
- Lead phone screen interviews and support recruiting efforts
- Conduct employee file audits and ensure compliance across multiple clients
- Handle employee relations calls with maturity and grounded judgment
- Support or lead HR projects across onboarding, compliance, documentation, and employee engagement
- Build and refine SOPs, templates, workflows, and HR tools
- Assist with policy updates and ongoing HR operations
- Collaborate with the Zen Den team on strategic HR initiatives
- Manage competing priorities with calm, clarity, and common sense
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of HR experience at a Generalist or HR Manager level
- Prior professional experience outside of HR (required)
- Strong employee relations experience
- Excellent judgment and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations
- Organized, detail-driven, and comfortable handling multiple clients
- Strong written communication and documentation habits
- Independent worker who can take direction and run with it
- Flexibility during weekday hours
- Must reside in MA or NY
Nice to Have
- Experience in small businesses, startups, or dynamic environments
- Exposure to multi-state HR or regulated industries
- Experience developing or improving HR systems and processes
- Experience in Healthcare
- Pay: $40.00 per hour
