POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION/TITLE: Night Custodian

ROLE TYPE: Part Time, non-exempt

SALARY $17.00/HOUR

WORK WEEK/HOURS: 10 - 20 Hours/Week

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

As one of the oldest non-profit community organizations in the area, the YWCA Greater Newburyport has been providing safe, affordable, and supportive housing, childcare and youth development, and wellness opportunities.

About the Role

We are seeking a self-motivated and reliable Part-Time Custodian to join our team. You will independently maintain and enhance indoor spaces for residential and commercial properties. This role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment without direct supervision.

What you will do:

• Independently perform routine cleaning tasks such as cleaning child care, fitness facility, locker rooms, bathrooms, residential hallways, residential kitchens and baths.
• Under the direction of the facility manager perform maintenance of cleaning equipment.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment including vacuums, scrubbers, tank vacs, buffers safely and effectively.
• Ensure that pathways are clean and safe.
• Adhere to safety protocols and use protective gear to ensure a safe working environment while working unsupervised.

Who you are:

• A hard worker who is able to work unsupervised to support a group of professionals who are engaged in mission related activities.
• You must be at least 18 years of age and provide your own transportation.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful indoor spaces.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, tenants, parents and members as needed.
• Able to work with another person but without direct supervision.
• You are able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Able to work nights and weekends

Our Benefits:

• $17 per hour
• Work can be performed on your schedule as noted below:
• Childcare Facility Monday through Friday after 6:00 PM
• Fitness Facility Monday through Friday after 8:00 PM
• Fitness Facility Saturday after 1:00 PM
• Residential Properties Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
