Job Summary
This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time offer.
Under general supervision, coordinates the Literacy Program and acts as a lead worker. This position has department specific responsibility. Hours may vary (Tuesday – Saturday) depend on the needs of the Library District.
Nature of Work
(Illustrative Only) Teaches Adult students in a classroom setting and works to build strong relationship with diverse library patrons who want to strengthen their reading skills, want help with their homework, or want to enhance their career readiness and the use of electronic resources; acts as a resource person for the instructors, tutors and students; identifies future training needs and develops curriculum, by staying abreast of changing training subject trends; evaluates student progress; composes reports and correspondence regarding library literacy services; develops, conducts and records virtual programming (i.e. story time, crafts, robotics, STEAM programming and emerging technology.); composes reports and correspondence regarding student's data to Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona (ALP ); registers, tests, and places new students in classes; promotes Literacy Program through various methods; may be require to represents the department on committees and meetings; develop and update forms for literacy program and worksheets for learners; assists with adjusting desk scheduling, as needed; assists with library branch programs, activities and duties, as needed.; assists with basic library services as needed, including working at the Circulation desk; works closely with other agencies; may act as a lead worker for designated staff; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience providing educational services to adults; ability to successfully complete an eighteen (18) hour ESL Tutor Training Workshop; and bilingual in English and Spanish; must obtain an Arizona Department of Education Standard Adult Education certificate within six (6) months of employment; must obtain a TABE Complete Language Assessment System-English (CLAS-E) certificate within three (3) months of employment; requires successful completion of a background check; must possess and maintain valid Arizona driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; library operations techniques; principles and practices of supervision; adult learning techniques and teaching strategies; literacy programs and methodology.
Skill in: Work effectively with volunteers; in compiling reports and statistics; communicating effectively verbally and in writing; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
Ability: Research and write detailed reports; read, to write and synthesize data and reports; use modern office equipment and computers; assigning and leading the work of others; communicate effectively verbally and written; planning and organizing work; lift up to 5 – 25 lbs.; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing. Working at a computer monitor for extended periods required. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment and may have risk of exposure to communicable diseases.

Medical Coverage Category
The YCEBT is a self-funded medical plan administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.
Plan Option 1: Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) or PPO A 1100 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,500 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) with a 1700 deductible. Employees who participate in the " Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Employer contributes a total of $800.04 to employees Health Savings Account. If employees select Employee only and participate in the " Wellness Incentive" employees can receive up to contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card to be used for medical or dental purposes.
Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan A and PPO Plan B. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
