We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Layton, Utah. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees across all departments within the Young Automotive Group. This role requires a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with employees and management.

Responsibilities
- Processes semi-monthly payroll for all dealerships — timecards
- variable pay entry in UKG Pro
- and verification for accuracy
- Calculates commissions for various dealership positions and verifies accuracy with the appropriate managers
- Maintains payroll records by entering pay adjustments
- status changes
- and transfers
- Completes month-end procedures and payroll accruals per corporate and manufacturer guidelines
- Manages and reconciles all employee deductions; ensures payroll practices comply with GAAP and all state and federal laws
- Processes 401(k) contributions
- company match
- and 409A deferred compensation items
- along with related accounting duties
- Prepares required reports timely and supports accounting
- audit
- tax
- and treasury activities as directed
- Reconciles benefit billings
- ensures vendor bills are paid on time
- and supports HR with benefits processing
- open enrollment
- and compensation agreements
- Assists dealership managers with PTO and employment benefit maintenance; works with benefit brokers and processes insurance claims as needed
- Provides exceptional service to internal and external customers
- Serves as liaison between dealerships and the Central Accounting Office on payroll matters
- working closely with the CFO and Corporate Controllers
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of related payroll work experience
- OR an accounting degree and one (1) year of related work experience
- Automotive payroll experience preferred but not required
- Strong Excel skills required
- including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Working knowledge of applicable government payroll and finance regulations
- including required filings
