This role plays a key part in supporting diagnostic services by collecting and processing patient specimens with accuracy, professionalism, and compassion. What You’ll Do:
- Collect blood and other specimens from patients of all ages, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and handling.
- Provide clear instructions to patients for laboratory tests and specimen collection procedures.
- Assist with scheduling lab appointments and maintaining efficient workflows.
- Understand and apply coding, billing, Medicare, and Medicaid policies, including obtaining ABNs and insurance waivers as needed.
- Accurately take and document phone or verbal orders from providers.
- Maintain proficiency in specialized specimen collection techniques.
- Follow all OSHA, safety, infection control, and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient and staff safety.
What You'll Bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Previous phlebotomy or laboratory experience preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
