At Sportopia Camp, we offer an action-packed mix of sports, games, and physical activities. From flag football and pickleball to skateboarding and rock climbing, our campers will engage in a variety of sports while learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and building athletic skills. As a Site Director, you'll lead an enthusiastic team of staff and ensure that every camper has a fun, safe, and rewarding camp experience. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the camp and managing a variety of sports-based activities while fostering a positive, inclusive environment
- Training: Required training will take place from May 18th-22nd, 2026.
- Seasonal Position: May 26th-August 7th, 2026, with opportunities to extend into school year programs (before and after school care).

Responsibilities
- Lead & Inspire: Manage and motivate staff while creating an exciting and engaging sports camp experience for all campers. Foster a positive, enthusiastic atmosphere where kids are excited to participate and grow.
- Program Planning & Innovation: Oversee the planning, development, and execution of high-quality sports programs, games, and activities, ensuring they are fun, educational,and aligned with YMCA standards.
- Staff Management: Support a team of Program Leaders and Aides, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need to succeed.
- Ensure Safety & Quality: Ensure all camp activities are conducted in a safe manner, following YMCA program standards and safety procedures at all times.
- Foster Teamwork & Sportsmanship: Encourage teamwork, positive attitudes, and good sportsmanship in all activities. Help campers develop not only athletic skills but also important life skills like respect, responsibility, and resilience.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and camper files. Oversee the site budget, including purchasing necessary sports equipment and supplies.
- Communication: Maintain open and professional communication with campers, parents, staff, and the community. Keep parents informed about the camp's activities and any important updates.
- Crisis Management: Lead staff in following YMCA emergency procedures and provide training to ensure everyone is prepared for any situation.
- Program Quality & Improvement: Regularly evaluate the success of camp activities and adjust programming as needed to ensure high-quality, fun, and educational experiences.
- Attend Meetings & Trainings: Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and YMCA events as required, maintaining strong connections with other Site Directors and the broader YMCA team.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, particularly in a sports or recreation setting, is preferred.
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable, with a passion for sports and working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (we can provide this).
- AND at least one of the following:
- A four-year degree in a related field OR
- An associate’s degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college or university and three (3) months ( 455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual OR
- 3,185 hours of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual OR
- A current early childhood professional credential level 2 or higher.
