MISSION:
The mission of the YMCA of the Foothills is to organize, develop, finance, and conduct programs for an association of persons of all ages that will, by putting Christian principles into practice, enrich the quality of their lives spiritually, mentally, physically and socially.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Preschool Coordinator oversees the daily operations and educational programs of a preschool, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children. This role involves supervising teaching staff, developing age-appropriate curricula, maintaining compliance with licensing regulations, and fostering positive relationships with families. The coordinator also manages enrollment, budget expense and revenue, and scheduling while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and early childhood development best practices.
Daily Overview:
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of the center
- Provide mentoring and day-to-day management of teachers and staff.
- Ensuring curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices are in place.
- Conducting tours for prospective parents and enrolling new families
- Ensuring licensing standards are met.
- Oversee teacher's weekly development and execution of the curriculum and program activities.
- Provides classroom coverage, if/when necessary
- Ensuring a safe environment for the children in our care
- Ensuring child information and record keeping is up-to-date and accurate.
- Works with teachers to prepare thorough evaluations for children on a monthly basis or as needed.
- Conducts teachers meeting monthly to ensure standards are held to expectations.
- Proactive monitoring the talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies or problems of each individual child, documenting issues/concerns as needed.
- Establishes and maintains a positive interpersonal relationship with all children, fellow staff, and parents/guardians.
- Adheres to all established policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
- Maintaining and growing third party vendors for supplemental pay of student tuition: CCRC/Regional Center
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Innovation:
- Works with the Senior Program Director, staff and volunteers to develop mission-oriented tactics that meet the needs of our members, our community, and our operating objectives. Continuously gather and evaluate community trends.
- Develops strong relationships and partnerships with specialized organizations and civic organizations to ensure we are meeting member and community needs.
- Gather and evaluate market trends and develop effective marketing and communications strategies to promote the Y, initiatives, programs, and benefits.
Program Management:
- Leads and directs program staff and volunteers in the development, implementation, and delivery of tactics in assigned programs. Evaluate programs for operational effectiveness including budgetary goals and impact.
- Recruit, lead, develop and evaluate staff and volunteers.
- Works with the Senior Program Director to develop operating budget and forecast revenues that ensure growth and sustainability.
General:
- Actively walk-through program engaging with participants, keeping vigilant for potential health and safety risks, clean/disinfect and put away equipment/supplies
- Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives and the mission of the YMCA.
- Act as representative of the YMCA of the Foothills at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience working in a licensed California preschool or child care center
- Knowledge of California Community Care Licensing (CCLD) regulations and Title 22 requirements
- Experience supporting licensing compliance, inspections, and required documentation
- Understanding of health, safety, and supervision standards for preschool programs
- Experience in a lead, coordinator, or supervisory role (preferred)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
- Must meet California background clearance requirements
