Manufacturing Supervisor
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Manufacturing Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
To assist in plant operations contributing towards improving manufacturing efficiencies through mechanical and manual systems and processes.
To ensure that plant operations follow all laws and regulations including environmental and safety. To ensure that risk is minimized through good planning and management.

- Manage the Maintenance Department, and ongoing projects including but not limited to the maintenance of tools, equipment, machinery and facilities.
- Ensure that a preventative maintenance program is in place and maintained which meets the organizational needs of the operation.
- Ensure assigned mechanical maintenance jobs and/or projects are performed accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Ensure any mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. problems are corrected.
- Participate in Advance Product Quality Planning for all parts, be involved in the development and design of tooling, fixtures and machines.
- Ensure that the operations are following all legislated laws and regulations. Work with our risk insurers to ensure that the facilities are adequately protected. Work with all departments to ensure that all equipment is adequately guarded, operating safely, and in compliance with laws regulating their use.
- Participate in the quality programs of the organization and manage the systems and procedures as they relate to his department(s). Make recommendations for improving these systems.
- Conduct process studies and make recommendations for process, machine and material improvements to enhance manufacturing and maintenance efficiencies.
- Participate in the development of the annual business plan, long-range plan, and other action-oriented plans as directed by management. Ensure that action-oriented plans for his department are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinate and oversee the installation of plant machinery and equipment.
- Ensure that his department(s) are following established work rules and procedures regarding performance or work, etc.
- Any other duties as directed by management.
- Ensure there are no interruptions or errors due to lack of giving or seeking information by fully informing the supervisor of all events affecting plant operations.
- Ensure that all aspects of his/her area of responsibility are always in full compliance with the quality system in place at the operation.
- Communicate with his department any changes in company policy or procedures which relate directly or indirectly to it.
- Regularly review procedures with his personnel.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages employees of the Maintenance Department and is responsible for performance management of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours may vary do to business needs. Working overtime and/or weekends may be required as necessary.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School or GED degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry
- BS Degree in an Engineering or Technical field
- Knowledge in IATF16949 Principles
- Trained or degreed in Plant Manufacturing Techniques and Procedures
- Lean Manufacturing
