AV / Furniture Installer
Department: Installation Services | Reports to: Installation Manager | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The AV/Furniture Installer is responsible for the professional installation, assembly, and configuration of Xybix modular furniture systems and integrated audio-visual equipment at customer sites. This role combines hands-on furniture installation skills with technical AV setup — including display mounting, cabling, and system testing — to deliver complete, functional workstations for control room, command center, and technology-integrated environments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable with hand and power tools, and able to troubleshoot basic AV connectivity issues on-site.
Key Responsibilities Modular Furniture Installation
Assemble and install Xybix modular consoles, workstations, and furniture systems per engineering drawings and installation specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and assembly diagrams to ensure accurate placement and configuration.
Use hand and power tools safely and correctly to assemble frames, panels, work surfaces, and height-adjustable components.
Install electrical raceways, power/data grommets, and cable management systems within furniture. Inspect completed installations for structural integrity, level/plumb alignment, and finish quality; resolve fit and finish issues on-site.
Load, transport, and stage furniture components and equipment at job sites; manage inventory against packing lists.
Audio-Visual Installation
Mount and secure monitors, video walls, and display arms to furniture and wall/ceiling structures per manufacturer and safety specifications.
Run, dress, and terminate AV, data, and power cabling between workstations, displays, and equipment racks.
Install speakers, microphones, and basic sound reinforcement components in control room and conference environments.
Rack fabrication and wiring.
Perform basic system power-on testing, signal verification, and troubleshooting of AV connections; escalate complex integration issues to AV engineering as needed.
Label and document cable runs and equipment locations to support ongoing maintenance and service.

General & Customer-Facing Duties
Represent Xybix professionally on customer sites, including government, public safety, and corporate facilities.
Coordinate daily schedules and site logistics with the Installation Manager and project team.
Complete job documentation, punch lists, and site condition reports.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site; follow OSHA and site-specific safety protocols.
Travel to installation sites, including overnight and multi-day trips, as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade training in AV, electronics, or carpentry a plus.
1 years of experience in furniture installation, millwork, construction, or similar hands-on trade. Experience with AV equipment installation (display mounting, cabling, basic system setup) strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of low-voltage cabling standards (HDMI, Cat5e/6, speaker wire) and connector termination.
Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment (multimeter, cable tester).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a company vehicle.
Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused demeanor.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods.
Comfortable working at heights (ladder/lift) to mount displays and run overhead cabling.
Ability to travel by air or vehicle to job sites, including overnight travel up to 75%.

Pay range: $24.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience.
