Job Overview

Xtremely Clean Janitorial Services is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and experienced Daytime Custodian and Porter to join our facilities maintenance team in Bartow.

This position plays an important role in ensuring our assigned facilities remain clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming for employees, visitors, clients, and members of the public throughout the day.

The ideal candidate will bring a proactive attitude, strong commercial cleaning skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and customer service. This position requires flexibility because assignments may be scheduled during the morning, midday, afternoon, or early evening based on contract needs.

The selected candidate must be comfortable performing indoor and outdoor custodial duties, including cleaning exterior public restrooms and operating pressure-washing equipment.

This is an active position suited for an experienced cleaner who works well in a fast-paced environment, can respond to changing facility needs, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and facility appearance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive cleaning duties throughout offices, restrooms, lobbies, entrances, hallways, breakrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Clean and maintain indoor and outdoor public restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, partitions, floors, walls, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.
• Remove trash, replace liners, and ensure proper waste disposal throughout assigned facilities.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, disinfect, and sanitize assigned areas.
• Restock soap, paper products, liners, and other facility supplies as required.
• Perform pressure washing of sidewalks, building entrances, exterior surfaces, restroom areas, and other assigned locations.
• Properly set up, operate, clean, and store pressure-washing equipment.
• Use commercial cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, wet vacuums, standard vacuums, and other custodial tools.
• Maintain floors through mopping, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing, and other approved floor-care methods.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely by following product labels, Safety Data Sheets, company procedures, and chemical-handling requirements.
• Follow sanitation procedures and color-coded cleaning practices to prevent cross-contamination.
• Lift, carry, move, and properly store custodial supplies, furniture, and equipment using safe lifting practices.
• Clean exterior areas and remove litter, debris, and visible buildup from assigned spaces.
• Respond promptly to spills, restroom needs, trash accumulation, and other daytime cleaning concerns.
• Assist with minor facility-maintenance duties, touch-up painting, or light cleaning-related repairs when trained and assigned.
• Operate all machinery and equipment safely and responsibly to prevent injury, accidents, or property damage.
• Report maintenance concerns, damages, safety hazards, supply shortages, vandalism, or security issues to the supervisor.
• Communicate professionally with facility personnel, visitors, supervisors, and client representatives.
• Complete required checklists, photographs, timekeeping records, and work documentation.
• Follow all company, client, workplace-safety, and facility-security procedures.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Previous professional janitorial, custodial, porter, or commercial cleaning experience is required.
• Previous pressure-washing experience is required.
• Experience cleaning outdoor or public restrooms is required.
• Experience cleaning commercial, industrial, government, recreational, office, educational, or similar facilities is strongly preferred.
• Experience operating floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, pressure washers, and other custodial equipment is required.
• Knowledge of commercial cleaning standards, sanitation procedures, and safe chemical handling is required.
• Experience with floor care, including buffing, stripping, waxing, or scrubbing, is strongly preferred.
• Must be able to perform manual-handling and heavy-lifting tasks using proper safety techniques.
• Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with staff, visitors, and the public.
• Must be reliable, punctual, responsive, and able to maintain consistent attendance.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be physically able to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, lift, carry, push, pull, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
• Light maintenance or painting experience is a plus.
• Must have a working smartphone for scheduling, communication, timekeeping, photographs, and documentation.
• Must be able to pass all required background screening and employment-verification requirements.

Scheduling and Availability Requirements

Applicants must have flexible availability between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

This does not mean the employee will work the entire 13-hour window. It means assigned shifts may be scheduled at different times within that period, including:

• Morning assignments
• Midday porter coverage
• Afternoon assignments
• Early-evening cleaning
• Special cleaning or pressure-washing assignments
• Coverage for scheduled facility needs

Candidates with very limited daytime availability may not be a good fit for this position.

The selected candidate must be able to arrive at the assigned location at the scheduled time and remain available for assignments based on contract and operational needs.

Transportation Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Have reliable personal transportation.
• Be able to travel to assigned facilities in the Bartow area.
• Maintain dependable transportation throughout employment.
• Be able to transport themselves to changing assignments when required.
