Position Overview
Xtek Partners is seeking an experienced Access Control / Intrusion Technician to support the installation, programming, service, and commissioning of electronic security systems across education, municipal, transportation, and commercial environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of access control and alarm platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and service access control and intrusion alarm systems
- Perform panel installation, wiring, termination, labeling, and testing
- Install and troubleshoot:
- Door controllers, readers, power supplies, REX devices, and locking hardware
- Intrusion panels, keypads, sensors, communicators, and peripherals
- Program and commission systems including:
- User permissions, access levels, schedules, and alarm zones
- Networked security devices and IP-based controllers
- Diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently, both onsite and remotely
- Read and interpret drawings, risers, and scope documents
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other field technicians
- Maintain accurate documentation, labeling, and as-built information
- Follow all safety, quality, and company standards
Preferred Certifications & Training
One or more of the following certifications are preferred:
- SIA Electronic Access Control (EAC)
- ESA Certified Alarm Technician (CAT) – Level I or II
- Manufacturer certifications such as:
- Kantech (EntraPass Corporate/Global)
- Brivo
- Alarm.com
- ProdataKey
- BICSI Technician (TECH) or similar low-voltage cabling certification
Experience & Technical Qualifications
- 3 years of hands-on experience with access control and/or intrusion systems
- Strong understanding of:
- Door hardware interfaces and power requirements
- Alarm zones, supervision, and signaling methods
- Basic networking concepts (IP addressing, PoE, VLAN awareness)
- Experience in occupied facilities and live system cutovers
- Ability to work independently and lead portions of a project when required
- Professional communication skills with clients and internal teams
Work Schedule & Travel
- Flexible scheduling required
- Work may be 1st or 2nd shift depending on project requirements
- Approximately 25% travel
- Some out-of-town and overnight stays required
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass pre-employment screening

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
