The Role
The Senior Revenue Accountant will own the company's end-to-end revenue process, including billing, commissions management, revenue recognition, and collections. This is a hands-on role with significant cross-functional exposure. You will serve as the primary liaison between Accounting and the rest of the business on all revenue-related matters.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee the full revenue cycle: sales orders, billings, commissions management, and collections
- Lead month-end close for revenue, including reconciliation of cash receipts, A/R aging, sales orders, and billing data
- Prepare and record monthly and quarterly revenue recognition schedules and journal entries under ASC 606
- Manage sales allowances, allowance for doubtful accounts, bad debt write-offs, and related roll-forward schedules
- Oversee the Commissions Management system, ensuring data integrity and accurate application of commission structures
- Prepare and record monthly and quarterly commission accrual journal entries
- Prepare monthly revenue reallocation to subsidiaries using the company's profit-split methodology
- Support external audits through schedule preparation and documentation
- Design and implement process improvements and internal controls to drive efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar role or public accounting; Big 4 or regional firm experience
- CPA preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Experience in professional services is a plus
- Proficiency in Excel and Word required; NetSuite, Salesforce, Spiff, and/or Google Suite experience a plus
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong communicator with the ability to work across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and non-financial stakeholders
