Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Refrigerated Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with heavy and industrial equipment, and the ability to diagnose and repair a variety of trailer and vehicle systems. This role offers an opportunity to work with a diverse range of machinery, including farm equipment, heavy trucks, and industrial vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trailers, including brake systems, suspensions, axles, and hydraulics
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and mechanical expertise
- Repair or replace transmissions, air brake systems, shocks & struts, and other critical components
- Conduct alignment procedures to ensure proper vehicle operation
- Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using hand tools, welding equipment, and power tools
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, and tractor-trailers for loading/unloading or repair purposes
- Utilize electrical skills for troubleshooting wiring issues and Soldering when necessary
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of trailer components during repairs or upgrades
- Perform tire service including mounting, balancing, and replacing tires on trailers and trucks
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on trailers, heavy equipment, or automotive repair
- Dealership experience is highly desirable
- HVAC systems, suspension, and diesel engines
- Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools effectively
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Familiarity with electrical systems and soldering techniques
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and maintenance tools
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnostics and repairs
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record preferred
