Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and motion control programs for new and existing equipment.
- Troubleshoot automation issues on the plant floor to minimize downtime.
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of automated systems and machinery.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and documentation.
- Perform system upgrades, hardware changes, and software modifications as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and external integrators to deliver automation solutions.
- Lead or support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure controls systems comply with safety standards (NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, etc.).
- Optimize equipment performance through process improvements and automation enhancements.
- Train maintenance and production personnel on new systems and controls changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–7 years of experience with industrial automation and controls.
- Proficiency with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred; Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron a plus).
- Experience with HMI/SCADA development (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, etc.).
- Strong understanding of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profinet).
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics (AutoCAD/Eplan experience preferred).
- Familiarity with VFDs, servos, robotics, sensors, and instrumentation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive, plastics, metals, packaging, or high-volume manufacturing.
- Knowledge of vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).
- Experience with MES integration or data collection systems.
- Project management or system integration experience.
