Job Summary
Xavier University of Louisiana is seeking to hire a Director of Student Academic Support who is responsible for coordinating comprehensive academic support efforts (e.g., tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic peer mentoring, etc.) and the delivery of support services on campus with a focus on retention, student success, and graduation.
The Director will serve as a member of the Assistant Provost for Student Success leadership team, providing vision and innovative leadership centered on student access and student success. The Director will be responsible for working with faculty, academic departments and other university offices to implement programs that will improve student retention, success and graduation rates. Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in higher in Education, Counseling, Guidance, Social Work, Student Personnel, higher education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three years of administrative experience in in academic support services, tutoring, and/or Supplemental Instruction.
- Budget management and experience supervising and evaluating professional staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Education, Counseling, Guidance, Social Work, or related field with a focus on academic advising, student personnel services and/or career counseling from an accredited college or university.
- Five years of administrative experience in academic support services, tutoring, and/or Supplemental Instruction.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
- Excellent oral, written communication skills, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Banner, EAB Navigate, and Degree Works
Special Requirements Summary
Local and regional travel required.
Work Hours
Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week.
Some evenings and weekends required.

Knowledge, Education, Experience, and Proficiencies
- Work closely with the Assistant Provost for Student Success to establish a holistic, campus-wide, and student-centered academic support model.
- Prepares a comprehensive assessment plan to determine the effectiveness of academic support services.
- Build effective partnerships with academic departments, faculty, and staff to ensure the planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic support programs, resources, and tools meet the needs of the campus community.
- Supervise the Assist Director for Academic of Academic Support and 4 Academic Resource Center (ARC) coordinators.
- Work with the ARC Coordinators to execute all operational aspects of the ARC’s, including, but not limited to, the day-to-day administrative functions of individual and group tutoring, workshops, review sessions, event planning, marketing, and budget maintenance.
- Develop, manage, and execute coordinated, on-going training opportunities for tutors and Supplemental Instruction Leaders.
- Oversee the daily use of EAB Navigate software to collect data, communicate among staff (e.g., student tutors, SI Leaders, ARC staff, etc.) and prepare periodic departmental reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
