Xavier Catholic Schools is hiring a full-time paraprofessional for Xavier Middle School's Regis Campus. This is a position for the 2026-2027 school year.
Position Summary: The Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with disabilities by assisting with instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional skills under the direction of a licensed special education teacher and/or related service providers. The paraprofessional helps implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and promotes a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Foster the Christian uniqueness of the learning community
- Maintain required trainings as required by the State of Iowa, Archdiocese, and local site
- Under direction of professional staff work with students individually or in group settings
- Support students with disabilities in general education and/or special education settings
- Assist in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications as directed by the special education teacher
- Provide small-group or one-on-one instructional support to reinforce teacher-led instruction
- Support students with behavioral, social-emotional, and self-regulation needs using approved strategies
- Assist students with daily living skills (e.g., organization, mobility, self-care) as appropriate
- Collect data on student progress and behavior as directed
- Assist with classroom management and transitions throughout the school day
- Prepare and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs
- Supervise students during non-instructional times (arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess)
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA and district policies
- Follow all district procedures related to safety, crisis response, and student supervision

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Practicing Catholic preferred

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
Working Environment:
Work is performed in a school and outdoor setting. Employees may be required to attend an occasional evening meeting and do extensive close computer work.
