Maintenance/Custodian - St Pius X Elementary & ELC

Location: Xavier Catholic Schools, St Pius X Elementary School and Early Learning Center

Job Summary:
The Maintenance/Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across all areas of the assigned school facilities. Duties include routine cleaning, sanitation, minor maintenance, and upkeep of the building and surrounding grounds. This position ensures that the facility is secure at all times, promoting a safe and conducive learning and working environment. Additionally, the Custodian will provide excellent customer service for school events and community activities, including set-up and clean-up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and trash removal throughout the school buildings and grounds.
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces and common areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for students, staff, and visitors.
• Conduct minor maintenance tasks, such as light repairs, replacing bulbs, and addressing general upkeep needs.
• Knowledge of routine maintenance and minor equipment repair.
• Secure the facility at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure safety and security.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up for school events, meetings, and community activities, providing high-level customer service and ensuring spaces are ready for use.
• Maintain a proactive approach to identifying and addressing cleaning and maintenance needs in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and school policies to ensure the well-being of all individuals on the premises.

Additional Information:

• Practicing Catholic strongly preferred
• High School diploma or GED
• This is a floating position that serves all Xavier Catholic Schools campuses.
• Hours and workdays will vary based on the needs of the school, including evenings and weekends for events.
• A strong commitment to teamwork, reliability, and maintaining a positive school atmosphere is essential.
• Able to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow written or verbal instructions.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
