MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Must possess Radiological Technologist license through the West Virginia Board of Radiologic Technologists.
- Registered in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Registered in Mammography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
- CPR certification.
- One (1) year of imaging experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nine (9) months of mammography experience.
- Prepares patient for mammographic examinations; explains procedures prior to testing and answers patient questions relating to ordered exam.
- Positions patients properly according to type of examinations; selects proper equipment and supplies for patients.
- Can perform all QC required by ACR, MQSA. Helps with needed letters, paperwork for inspections.
- Responsible for reporting any equipment that is not in proper working condition to the director or manager so they can call for service.
- Maintains supplies in clean and sterile conditions; transports contaminated instruments and devices to Central Processing for proper sterilization.
- Instructs and cross-trains new techs in proper methods and procedures regarding mammography exams.
- Performs sterile and isolation techniques; follows all OSHA standards.
- Performs various routine mammo procedures/special procedures.
- Maintains continuing education on procedures and techniques in order to perform examinations of high quality including routine diagnostic and special procedures. Complies with the advanced certification requirements and is board registered in mammography ARRT (R)(M).
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition to prevent spread of infection or disease to patients, visitors and personnel.
- Properly assesses patient information on electronic medical record systems. Charges, changes, adds information as necessary to keep records accurate. Can assess patient lab records, etc as needed through electronic record. Logs off after using computer and is also responsible for verifying pre-certification of insurance for procedures that require it. Ensures all completed images are on PACS.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served. (Neonatal 0-11 months, Pediatric 1-12 years, Adolescent 13-17 years, Adult 18-79 years, Geriatric 80 years).
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development.
- Assesses information relative to patient's status and interprets this information to identify the age specific needs of each patient.
- Maintains an understanding of the range of treatment necessary for each patient and provides appropriate care based on their age specific needs.
- May remove oxygen tubing from a wall gauge, attach tubing to an oxygen tank and adjust the flow meter on the tank as ordered by the physician
- Differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph.
- Stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day.
- Lift, push and pull up to 10 pounds of weight.
- Carry items of up to 20 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to; moving mechanical parts; airborne particles; body fluids; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock.
- Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously.
- Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the Health Care Team.
