What You Will Do
- Performing surveys for pre-project data collection, including longitudinal profiles, cross sections, and topographic survey, as a part of a survey team.
- Performing as-built surveys for completed restoration projects
- Compiling, writing, and editing quality technical reports, feasibility reports, letters, memos and specifications on restoration projects.
- Assisting with plan production using AutoCAD for restoration projects
- Assisting with permit applications for restoration projects, including estimating and documenting project impacts, pollutant load reductions, and verifying that projects meet state and federal permit requirements.
- Observing construction on restoration projects and completing project inspections. Also assisting with compiling construction documentation such as pay vouchers, inspection reports, and memoranda on ongoing construction projects.
- Complete water quality modeling and sediment testing and analytics.
- Perform pond surveys and associated field sampling work
- As you advance in your career:
- You may also plan, direct, and coordinate all project activities to ensure that projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and budgets.
- You will also manage restoration projects, identify new projects, formulate project approaches, lead the proposal process, formulate, track and meet project budgets and schedules, and market to and secure work from new and existing clients.
- Your experience level and quality of work will determine the amount of independent judgment granted, the complexity of tasks performed, and direct supervision received.
- Working Conditions/Schedule/Location:
- Work is performed in both an office and field setting; must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- May be required to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, up to five days per week, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
- Reliable transportation required and the ability to travel daily within assigned territory.
- Travel or field visits may be required to support project needs or stakeholder collaboration.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, biology, civil engineering or a related field.
- 0-4 years of experience in Water Resources, Environmental Science or related field.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license along with a clean driving record and have the ability to work in a variety of locations.
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Working familiarity with GIS and/or AutoCAD
- Familiarity or experience with state and federal permitting requirements for restoration projects in public waters or on public land.
- Experience in construction observation and administration.
