Worcester Cultural Academy Public Charter School is seeking a skilled and driven upper elementary or middle school teacher to join our growing crew in Worcester, MA. We are looking for culturally competent educators with experience working in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs. We welcome candidates who reflect the cultural diversity of our community. Who We Are WCA is a growing charter public school that opened in August 2023 with a vision of becoming a K–8 community. We launched with kindergarten and have added a grade every year since — this fall we welcome our first 7th graders. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that challenges students to grow in three dimensions: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. We partner with organizations like the EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum, and Hanover Theater and anchor our curriculum in Learning Expeditions that make learning meaningful and real. This is a school where teachers are leaders and co-creators — and we're building something worth being part of. We want to be honest with prospective candidates: this is energizing, demanding work. Our school day is longer than a traditional district schedule, our expectations are high, and we ask everyone on our team to contribute beyond the boundaries of a job description when students need it. What You'll Do Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging lessons that challenge students to think critically, take ownership of their learning, and develop as confident young people Plan and facilitate Learning Expeditions that connect content to real-world problems, community partnerships, and high-quality student work Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs, using culturally responsive teaching practices Use data to drive your instruction: analyze iReady results, MCAS trends, and ongoing progress monitoring to adjust your practice and support every learner Provide intervention support for students who need additional challenge or scaffolding Engage students in portfolio-based assessment and facilitate student-led conferences as a powerful demonstration of growth and accountability Communicate proactively and meaningfully with families, seeking out perspectives across a range of identities and building trust across the school community Model a strong commitment to our identity as an anti-racist school — empowering students and bringing a "whatever it takes" approach to their success Take on responsibilities beyond the classroom as needed — contributing to school culture, supervising students, and showing up as a full member of our community What You Bring Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university Massachusetts teaching license (Middle School 5-8 or Elementary 1–6) or eligibility for licensure; subject matter MTEL accepted Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement (or willingness to obtain) Experience working with upper elementary or middle school students and an understanding of what this age group needs to thrive Comfort using data — iReady, MCAS, and benchmark assessments — to inform instruction and monitor progress Willingness to participate in EL Education training and engage with the broader EL network Availability for summer professional development prior to the start of the school year A collaborative spirit and genuine commitment to a team-oriented, mission-driven culture Decisiveness, persistence, and the flexibility to take on whatever the work requires Full-time Salary commensurate with experience; $52,562-$81,004 Apply here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5XF8PK7
