Worcester Cultural Academy Public Charter School is seeking an experienced and dedicated special education teacher to join our growing team in Worcester, MA. We are looking for a skilled educator who brings deep knowledge of special education law and practice, writes strong IEPs, and knows how to build a team around a student. We welcome culturally competent candidates with experience working in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students across a range of disability categories. We welcome candidates who reflect the cultural diversity of our community. Who We Are WCA is a growing charter public school that opened in August 2023 with a vision of becoming a K–8 community. We launched with kindergarten and have added a grade every year since — this fall we welcome our first 7th graders. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that challenges students to grow in three dimensions: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. We partner with organizations like the EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum, and Hanover Theater and anchor our curriculum in Learning Expeditions that make learning meaningful and real. This is a school where every student is expected to do meaningful, high-quality work — and our special education team is central to making that possible. We want to be honest with prospective candidates: this is energizing, demanding work. Our school day is longer than a traditional district schedule, our expectations are high, and we ask everyone on our team to go beyond the boundaries of a job description when students need it. Special education at WCA is not a peripheral function — it is core to who we are. If that excites you, you'll fit right in.
