Worcester Cultural Academy Public Charter School is seeking a skilled and compassionate School Social Worker to join our growing team in Worcester, MA. This is a part-time (.75) position (5 days per week, 6 hours per day) and an expansion of an existing role — a sign of our growing commitment to the social-emotional wellbeing of our students and community. We are looking for a candidate who brings clinical skill, cultural humility, and genuine warmth to some of the most important work in our school. We welcome candidates who reflect the cultural diversity of our community. Who We Are WCA is a growing charter public school that opened in August 2023 with a vision of becoming a K–8 community. We launched with kindergarten and have added a grade every year since — this fall we welcome our first 7th graders. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that challenges students to grow in three dimensions: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. We partner with organizations like the EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum, and Hanover Theater and anchor our curriculum in Learning Expeditions that make learning meaningful and real. We know that students cannot access that kind of learning without feeling safe, supported, and seen — and our School Social Worker is central to making that possible. We want to be honest with prospective candidates: this is energizing, demanding work. Even in a part-time capacity, you will be navigating complex student needs, building trust with families across cultural and linguistic differences, and serving as a critical support system for students and staff alike. If that kind of meaningful challenge excites you, you'll fit right in.
