BASIC PURPOSE: To provide for coverage absences of classroom staff CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: •Provide back-up support to assigned classrooms, rotating between centers / classrooms as necessary. Children range from 6 weeks to 5 years. •Assist classroom staff implement the daily educational program for children. •Encourage and foster open communication with parents •Attend staff meetings, workshops, and other training sessions as requested by Head Teacher, to learn agency objectives and philosophy as well as specific job skills. •Share information about children and families appropriately, always ensuring confidentiality. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: •Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor. Specific Job Components • To provide for coverage absences of classroom staff; to provide direct care to the children in the extended day program. • Must be First Aid and CPR certified Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle. • Must be able to travel between centers on short notice. Supervision and Safety • Supervision is everyone’s responsibility. All staff are expected to actively supervise children at all times, anticipate and prevent hazards, and take immediate action to ensure safety. • Report safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, and policy violations in accordance with agency procedures.
