Our district is proud to offer full-day, free public PreK to all district residents, and we are seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated individual to join our outstanding PreK team. Our program is built on small class sizes—up to 16 students supported by a teacher and an aide—allowing us to provide individualized attention and a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of three- and four-year-old learners during a critical stage of their growth and development. The school day is 7.5 hours, filled with hands-on learning, play, exploration, and connection.
Position Overview
The PreK Assistant works closely with classroom teachers to support students’ physical, social, emotional, and early academic development. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, warm, flexible, and passionate about early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with classroom teachers to support daily instruction and classroom routines

Prepare and organize classroom materials, bulletin boards, learning centers, and displays

Support instruction by working with individual students and small groups under teacher guidance

Build trusting, nurturing relationships that help children feel safe, confident, and valued

Supervise students in a variety of settings including the classroom, playground, gymnasium, outdoor classroom, and on field trips

Support positive behavior through consistent use of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Assist children in developing independence with self-care, hygiene, rest time, and snack/lunch routines

Maintain a warm, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment

Participate in at least 15 hours of annual professional development, as required by Vermont childcare licensing regulations
Additional Requirements

Completion of required annual early childhood professional development

Current or willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
