YOUR IMPACT IN THIS ROLE:
At the Woodson YMCA, we believe children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and inspired, and the same is true for our Child Care Team. In this role, you’ll create a developmentally appropriate, play-based learning environment while following Wisconsin Licensing Regulations and modeling our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position that comes with a robust benefits package.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Help ensure staffing during our Monday-Friday, 6:30am-6:00pm open hours
• Ensure the safety, supervision, and positive guidance of all children in your care
• Help plan, lead, and implement engaging daily activities
• Follow the classroom schedule and program expectations
• Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff
• Maintain awareness of each child’s location and needs at all times
• Communicate effectively with families while respecting confidentiality
• Model the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
• Be diligent in meeting child care licensing rules
• Create weekly lesson plans with appropriate curriculum
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
WHO YOU ARE:
• An individual that is at least 18 years of age
• You have completed high school or its equivalency as determined by the Department of Public Instruction
• At a minimum, you’ve successfully completed Introduction to the Child Care Profession and Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher, or equivalent courses
• You already have completed Infant and Toddler Care, or can complete it within 6 months of hire (if you wish to be hired for an infant or toddler classroom)
• You have prior experience as a lead teacher, or you have a positive attitude, meet the other requirements and show the capacity to succeed in the position (we are happy to train the right candidate)
• You are able to complete a background check and occupational physical with the results required for the position
