Summary Description

The primary responsibility of the Food Runner is to promptly deliver food to members and /or guests in a friendly, professional and knowledgeable manner. The Food Runner should be able to anticipate member and/or guest requests that may need to accompany any given food item. The Food Runner is the connection between the front of the house and the back of the house during Pool Season.

Duties / Responsibilities

Knowledge of ingredients in each menu item and be able to recite this information to the members and/or guests when questioned
Attends to all members and/or guests – anticipates rather than making the member and/or guest ask for assistance
Delivers food to members and/or quickly and efficiently
Works diligently and communicates efficiently with other Food Drink staff to help coordinate member orders for food from the Kitchen
Learns member names whenever possible
Assists Family Pool by busing tubs and dirty glassware, and the Adult Pool with bus tubs
Provides support to kitchen operations as needed, including food prep and scheduled dishwasher shifts
Maintains clean, organized and visually appealing areas in and around all food drink outlets
Properly handles Lost & Found items per outlined policies and procedures
Moves throughout the shift with purpose
Attends to all members and/or guests in a timely manner
Reports any aggressive, suspicious and/or ill member and/or guest behavior to the acting MOD
Stays informed of all club policies, activities and events as to accurately provide information, event details or relay policies correctly
May at times be asked to support swim meets and special events within Club
Complies with Club’s employee handbook manual, departmental policies and procedures and with all applicable federal and state employment laws
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Job Standards

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

Education/

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience is preferred
Must be reliable and timely for all shifts

Skills:

Good memory and task driven
Professional appearance and demeanor
Excellent customer service and strong communications skills
Outgoing and friendly personality
Ability to use computers and related technology efficiently
Time management and organizations skills: ability to multitask in fast paced environment
Judgment and problem-solving skills and attentive to detail

Special Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk and climb stairs multiple times during entire shift
Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, and stoop
Remain stationary for long periods of time
Frequently wash hands
Regular and predictable attendance is required
Ability to move or lift as much as 30 pounds or more on a regular basis
Ability to communicate well both verbally and in written form
Interest in wellness and/or fitness is a plus
Must have reliable transportation to and from work each shift
Ability to work under pressure and in varying heat conditions inside the kitchen and out at the pool areas

Working Conditions:

Operates in and around pool area in extreme weather conditions walking and standing
Required to work both in and outside in high heat summer temperatures
Working in around lots of people where noise levels can be excessive
Flexible and changing working hours – must be available per business needs
Schedule will vary based on weather and the needs of the business, particularly for special events, promotions, etc.
Hazards may include, but are not limited to: minor cuts, slipping and tripping
