Position:English Learner (EL) Teacher Location:Woodland Elementary Schedule:2026-2027 School Year Salary: Per Teachers’ Contract To Start:August 24, 2026 (plus two mentoring days prior to start date, 8/18-8/19) Qualifications: ●Massachusetts certification as a teacher in ESL (PreK- 6), required ●Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement, required ●MA Department of Education Teacher License – Elementary Education (1-6), required ●Bilingual Education Endorsement and/or Bilingual Proficiency (Spanish and/or Portuguese), preferred ●WIDA ACCESS 2.0 Test Administrator: Online certification and Alternate ●Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Core-Content Frameworks and WIDA 2020 ELD Standards ●Knowledge of second language learning and sheltering content, ELD Curriculum Unit Planning, standard and alternative methods of assessment, and data-driven instruction ●Deep understanding of the advancement of cultural proficiency, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom and school environments ●Demonstrated ability to co-teach in the SEI and ELD classroom: coursework and/or experience in co-planning, co-teaching, co-assessment, and co-reflection with a Sheltered Content Immersion (SCI) core-academic teacher ●Extensive coursework completion in teaching reading/literacy skills to students at the elementary school level ●Experience working with Students with Limited and/or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) and English learner-students with disabilities (ELSWD) ●Training and experience in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) ●Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to use various software and apps (student databases: Aspen, Google Suite, Ellevation, TalkingPoints, iReady, Clever, etc.) ●Committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap ●A self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community ●A positive, solutions-oriented problem solver, willing to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life Duties & Responsibilities: ●Teach English Language Development (ELD) to English learners (ELs) in a co-taught ESL classroom and/or co-teach general education frameworks in Sheltered Content Immersion (SCI) classrooms ●Co-plan, co-teach, co-assess, and co-reflect with assigned Sheltered Content Immersion (SCI) core-academic teacher(s) ●Collaborate with classroom teachers in integrating the WIDA 2020 Standards into content area instruction and in identifying ways in which students at all levels of English development can be supported in the content areas ●Teach explicit ELD to students at varying English Proficiency levels, aligned to WIDA Can Dos/Proficiency Level Descriptors ●Implement and refine in-district ESL content-integrated curriculum maps aligned to MA Curriculum Frameworks and the WIDA 2020 Standards. ●Provide a safe and respectful learning environment that fosters social and emotional competencies and empowers multilingual students to be skilled and competent communicators who actively participate as leaders in their school community ●Knowledge of screening and assessment of all students with a second language spoken at home, including WIDA ACCESS, in-district progress monitoring assessments, and being involved in MCAS administration ●Administer and grade EL department common progress monitoring assessments and adjust practice to ensure student growth in the four domains of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing ●Partner with SEI teachers to implement explicit ELD and SEI instruction aligned to the goals assigned to students’ English learner Success Plans (ELSPs). ●Develop, implement, and consistently monitor language goals and objectives for students following the English learner frameworks, and keep parents informed about student language development progress ●Communicate regularly with families via email, face-to-face meetings, and communication apps (i.e., TalkingPoints, etc.), and participate in school-based parent engagement events ●Attend ESL department meetings and team collaboration time ●Collaborate with the EL Coordinator/building administration on budget and purchase orders for the curriculum and instruction of ELs ●Work with the IEP Team and the Special Education Team Chair to discuss ELSWD's culturally and linguistically relevant IEP development, accommodations, and modifications that align with EL’s language proficiency levels and disability. ●As a member of the EL department, complete the required annual tasks aligned to the EL Department Sustainable Improvement Plan (ELDSIP) ●Provide an inclusive, positive, structured learning environment ●Ability to actively collaborate with other members of the department and team
